Hello everyone, today’s topic is all about Indian food and how to live a healthier life. Being an Indian I do love Indian fast foods such as puri, kachori, samosa, and all the deep-fried foods. All Indian thalis include diets are rich in nutrition like grains, lentils, healthy fats, vegetables, dairy, and fruits.  But I think 90% of people don’t get that much to eat or some don’t have time to eat all that.

In India people now are much worried about their weight, I don’t know the reason. It may be obesity leads to different diseases like diabetes and cholesterol. But its actually good news that people are really focused on themselves. They don’t really want to get sick.

If you tell people that you are dieting. People start giving you advice what to do and what not. Weight loss is a topic that every common people give an advice on. There are lots of myths that are believed and people do follow them for a certain period of time. I have seen people who don’t consult a dietician. they just start dieting themselves by reducing the food intake.

Dear people first learn the meaning of dieting and then start a diet.

What is a diet food?

Let me tell you diet food is a balanced food which is balanced in proteins, fiber, carbs and also fat. These foods are usually intended to assist in weight loss. Or may help people to gain muscle mass. Diet food has high food energy and low in fats, mostly diet food has the perfect amount of calories that our body needs everytime.

Sometimes we people take high calories and don’t burn them. This leads to weight gain, means extra fat deposition in our body. Diet food helps us take the perfect amount of calories in each meal. So that we can burn those calories easily and feel hungry for another meal. In return, you will get the amount of energy your body needs and even burn the calories what you have eaten.

Diet food to eat

Diet food include vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, grains and lots of things. Mostly eating raw vegetables help us to get the fiber from it.

Non-Vegetarians can substitute vegetarian sources of nutrients with foods like grilled chicken and grilled fish and so on.

  • Raw Vegetables: Tomatoes, spinach, cucumber, carrot, okra, onions, bitter melon, cauliflower, mushrooms, cabbage and more.
  • Fruits:  mango, papaya, pomegranate, guava, oranges, apples, melon, pears, plums, bananas
  • Whole grains: Brown rice, basmati rice, millet, quinoa, barley, corn, whole-grain bread, oats.
  • Nuts and seeds: almonds, peanuts, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, watermelon seeds, and chia seeds.
  • Legumes: Mung beans, black-eyed peas, kidney beans, lentils.
  • Dairy: Cheese, yogurt, milk, Cottage cheese, clarified butter

Indian Diet food for weight loss

There are lots of food that can be taken daily as diet food. A wholesome diet food should comprise of anti-oxidants, protein, iron, fiber, calcium and many other essential nutrients

In the morning: Upma, dosa, idli with sambar, roti with curd, poha

Morning snack: having a fruit is sufficient. (apple,guava,watermelon)

Lunch: rice, dal with any sabji(vegetable) or vegetable dalia or steamed rice with fish curry or grilled chicken

Evening snack: Roasted foxnut, vegetable chaat, sprout salad

Dinner: Rice, roti with any curry(chicken, fish) with curd and a glass of milk

Note

  • Do avoid caffeine, sugar, alcohol
  • A small portion of food at one time
  • Avoid junk and processed food items
  • Exercise is the must
  • Small regular meals instead of three heavy ones
  • Regular and sufficient water intake

People who are willing to lose weight should follow a perfect diet by counting the calories. And exercise is a must.
