How to Take Care of Your Skin This Summer

In India, summers are harsh and we need to put in a lot of time and effort to safeguard our skin and hair. This is the time of the year when most of our indigenous beauty tips come handy to prevent skin related issues. Sun is considered to cause permanent damage to the skin.

The unprotected skin which is exposed to sun dries up. The exposure also diminishes the supply of natural lubricating oil to the skin. Moreover, when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation it can result in burning and can change the structure of the skin for a long time. A lot of exposure to sun many also causes premature aging. Given that there are more chances of us getting exposed to the sun in summer, we have to take considerable measures in order to avoid all summer related skin issues.

Here are few measures we need to follow for good skin even in the hot summer heat

Don’t go out without sunscreen

A sunscreen should be a permanent thing in your cosmetic pouch. However, only applying sunscreen before just stepping out of your house doesn’t really help, once applied sunscreen is only effective for a couple of hours or three hours tops. Hence, it is very important to keep reapplying the sunscreen every two to three hours. There is an array of sunscreen products available in the market these days which are UVA and UVB which come in a range from SPF 30 to SPF 70.

Keep your body hydrated

we can’t stress enough about the importance of drinking enough water, especially in summer. Apart from keeping your skin clean from toxins, regular water intake will also prevent any dehydration in your body. Try to drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water every day. Carry a bottle of water with you everywhere you go.

Makeup isn’t for summers

For the hot and sultry season of summer, heavy makeup looks would not be the best idea. Avoid makeup as much as you can, sport a clean moisturized and sun-protected skin this summer. If you must wear makeup, make sure you are using a foundation with SPF. Even while wearing makeup, keep it light and especially avoid heavy eye makeup.

Who said moisturizing is only for winter

Though we all take extra care in moisturizing our skin winter, we shouldn’t neglect to moisturize our skin in summer. You can find light skin lotions on the market, these summer lotions also help in hydrating your skin in summer. Do remember to apply a coat of your moisturizer or lotion before you put on your sunblock.

Exfoliation is the key

Summer or not it is a vital skincare rule to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis. You need to do it more religiously in summer to remove all the dead skin. Make sure you invest in good body scrub or exfoliator that suits your skin type.

Let your skin remember the summers for the beautiful sun-kissed photographs you captured this season and not for the tan and skin issues caused due to the heat.
